Lollipop men and women in Sheffield have been given body-worn cameras in an effort to combat abuse and aggressive behaviour from drivers.
Sheffield City Council said school crossing wardens at several unspecified locations across the city would be given the cameras, which will record interactions, as part of a new initiative.
The local authority said the measure would create a safer environment for families walking to school in the new academic year and provide reassurance to staff working alone.
Wardens have been subjected to "unacceptable behaviour" and dangerous driving by a "small" number of motorists, the council added.
Jefferson Nwokeoma, the authority's assistant director of city transport said: "These body-worn cameras will help protect our staff, provide valuable evidence when incidents occur and encourage motorists to follow the rules of the road.
"Ultimately, this is about making the journey to school safer for everyone."
Drivers who fail to stop for a school crossing warden can be fined up to £1,000 and have three penalty points added to their licence.
