Chuck Woolery
, known for hosting game shows like “Wheel of Fortune” and “Love Connection,” has died at the age of 83 at his home in Texas, US.
Woolery's podcast co-host, Mark Young, confirmed the news on social media platform X, saying that life will not be the same without his "dear brother."
"It is with a broken heart that I tell you my dear brother @chuckwoolery has just passed away.
Life will not be the same without him. RIP, brother," Young posted.
In an email, Young described the American TV personality as a "dear friend" and praised him as a "tremendous man of faith."
Woolery became a household name in the 1970s and 80s, hosting the original “Wheel of Fortune” for seven years before achieving further fame with “Love Connection.” His signature phrase on the dating show, “We’ll be back in two minutes and two seconds,” became iconic.
He later hosted other game shows, including “Scrabble,” “Lingo,” and “Greed.” In 2007, Woolery was inducted into the
American TV Game Show Hall of Fame
.
Beyond his television career, Woolery was also a musician. His band, The Avant-Garde, had a Top 40 hit in 1968 with the song “Naturally Stoned.” He later transitioned to country music, writing songs for artists like Tammy Wynette.
In his later years, Woolery became a
conservative commentator
and hosted the podcast “Blunt Force Truth.” A vocal supporter of Donald Trump, Woolery made controversial statements about Covid-19, some of which were amplified by Trump himself.
Woolery is survived by his wife, Kristen, his sons Michael and Sean, and his daughter Melissa.
