Israel's military has removed a soldier from its international communications unit after she was seen in a livestream with controversial influencer Braden Peters, also known online as Clavicular.

The disciplinary measure has reignited debate over the responsibilities of military personnel who engage with the public, the role of online personalities and the responses of institutions when their official representatives are linked to divisive internet personalities.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that soldier Shira Braun would no longer serve in its international communications division following a command review into her conduct.

Braun had worked with the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, helping manage the military's foreign language social media presence, including content shared on TikTok.In an official statement, the military said:"Following a command review held with the soldier regarding her conduct, it was decided to impose a suspended jail sentence, which will take effect if she commits another disciplinary offense."The IDF also announced that Braun had been removed from her communications role and transferred to another unit.

According to the military, the disciplinary measures were based on her appearance alongside Clavicular during his recent visit to Israel rather than any allegation that she misused official accounts or accessed sensitive information.The incident quickly attracted attention because Braun was not participating as a private influencer. Instead, she held a position connected to one of Israel's most visible public communication operations, making her appearance with a controversial internet personality especially sensitive.
