Colombian lawmaker
Cathy Juvinao
has apologized after she was caught on camera
vaping in Parliament
during a meeting that was discussing healthcare reforms. In the video, she was seen hurriedly stowing away her vape pen as she was about to address the legislative body during a December 17 session debating changes to health policy, USA Today reported.
After vaping, she gave her speech against the health care reform that was being proposed in the Colombian parliament.
Juvina represents Colombia's capital city of Bogota as a member of the Green Alliance Party.
In a statement issued after the video gained attention on social media, she said she would not join the bad example and would not repeat what happened.
Smoking and vaping are prohibited in government buildings in Colombia, including the parliamentary chambers, local media reported. Earlier this year, Colombia's President Gustavo Petro signed into law legislation aimed at curbing and regulating the sale of electronic cigarettes and vaping devices in the country.
