The canoodling carrots have raised a smile among customers
Love is in the air - and apparently the vegetable crates - after a pair of "cuddling carrots" were discovered among the fresh produce donated to a food recycling organisation.
While sorting though the donations, volunteers at Food Works Sheffield uncovered two carrots so tightly entwined they looked as though they were embracing.
The team decided the pair were far too charming to chop, so they gave them pride of place near the till.
Warehouse manager Rachel Eyton said: "They look very cute. It's like the love gods were looking down on us just in time for Valentine's Day."
Food Works Sheffield is a social enterprise dedicated to reducing food waste and improving access to good food across the city
Eyton said the discovery of the romantic root veg could not have been better timed ahead of their Valentine's bistro night.
She said the sold-out event would see dozens of diners served up a three-course meal made from rescued ingredients.
Guests are asked to pay what they feel, with the proceeds supporting the social enterprise's mission to tackle food waste.
Eyton said: "We get a lot of flowers donated at this time of the year so the tables will look beautiful and I may bring the cuddling carrots along too."
