A photo of Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles apparently looking at him angrily has gone viral.
A photo of Donald Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles apparently shooting daggers from her eyes towards Trump when the president Tuesday said the US will take over Gaza has gone viral with claims that even Trump's chief of staff could not believe what she was hearing. At a bilateral press conference where Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also present, Trump Tuesday said the US will take over the Gaza strip and will do a job with it.
"We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site ... level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings," Trump said.
White House later issued a clarification and claimed that Donald Trump did not say he would send American troops to Gaza; he said the US would rebuild Gaza and that would happen through US' partners in the region. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said US taxpayers' money would not go to Gaza. "The president has not committed to putting boots on the ground in Gaza. He has also said the United States is not going to pay for the rebuilding of Gaza. His administration is going to work with our partners in the region to reconstruct this region. This is an out-of-the-box idea. His goal is lasting peace in the Middle East for all people in the region," Karoline Leavitt said
However, Trump's Gaza announcement sent shockwaves, leading to strong reactions from world leaders and funny memes on social media. Susie Wiles' apparent reaction—as seen in the viral photo—was part of the latter.
Even Fox News host Jessica Tarlov mentioned Wiles' reaction during the telecast and said that Wiles' face was proof of how crazy Donald Trump's idea was.
“If you want to know how crazy the idea is, you have to look no further than Susie Wiles’ face as he said it,” Tarlov told her colleagues on The Five. “We know where the idea came from. Last year, Jared Kushner said you could get some really great waterfront property in Gaza. It could be really beautiful,“ Tarlov referred to Trump’s son-in-law. ”And this was widely covered. So maybe he has been brewing this. Maybe there are great contracts to come.”
Wiles' reaction came when Trump suggested that Palestinians could be resettled in Middle Eastern countries while Gaza, which he called a hell, gets rebuilt. Wiles was not there when Trump later proposed that the US would take over Gaza.
