Ever since Kamala Harris became the Democratic Presidential nominee, Team Trump has targeted her identity and even accent. Among the melee, there have been several posts about her accent, some of which have been fake. One of those claims that Tiger Woods, also hit out at Harris. A user on X, known for posting parody posts called @PGATUOR, wrote: “Kamala's fake black
accent
is embarrassing and extremely offensive.
- Tiger Woods.”
The viral post has garnered over 5 million views and 173,000 likes. However, the quote was fake, and something Woods never said. The account describes itself as the "golf version" of The Onion and The Babylon Bee, which are popular parody and fake news websites known for their humorous content.
Earlier, Harris faced backlash on
social media
for what many perceived as a "fake accent" during a
Labor Day rally
in
Detroit
, Michigan. The controversy arose when Harris, the Democratic Presidential nominee, delivered a speech that some viewers found inauthentic. She told the crowd, "You may not be a union member, but you better thank a union member for the five-day workweek," while noticeably altering her dialect. This shift in her accent prompted criticism from various social media users.
One user on X described Harris's speech as "cringe and fake," alleging she adopted a contrived Southern accent. A conservative account, Johnny MAGA, shared a clip of her speech, mocking her "Detroit speak" and labeling her as "cringe and fake." Trump senior advisor Stephen Miller also criticized Harris, claiming she had adopted her "seventh new accent in four weeks" and accusing her of changing her speech patterns based on location. "She has literally never used this accent before. She grew up in Canada. Phoniest politician in all of politics," Miller remarked.
Professor and podcast host Gad Saad expressed his disdain for what he saw as inauthenticity, saying, "There are countless traits that I despise in humans, few as much as inauthenticity." GOP strategist Matt Whitlock also commented, "All of politics is a performance to Kamala Harris. She changes fake accents like she changes policy positions and political personas. Today she’s talking in a fake southern accent, pretending to be a moderate. Next week she’ll be back to San Francisco liberal."
On X, opinions varied, with one user noting, "New Kamala accent just dropped," while another criticized her for shifting her accent from Detroit to Pittsburgh, calling her the "fakest human being" ever. Despite the criticism, Harris continues to campaign vigorously, seeking support from blue-collar union workers and other key voter groups.
