Edith Bowman said her suitcase was stolen while she was travelling between London and Gloucestershire
Radio DJ Edith Bowman has made a tearful plea for a suitcase containing some of her grandfather's ashes to be returned.
The 52-year-old said she believed the case was stolen during a train journey on Friday from London Paddington to Kemble in Gloucestershire.
Posting on social media, Bowman said the suitcase contained sentimental items in a jewellery box, including a pinkie ring with her grandfather's ashes in it.
She said she reported the incident to British Transport Police. The force has been contacted for comment.
The former BBC Radio One DJ said the incident happened on the 09:32 departing train from London Paddington, which terminated at Cheltenham.
She said: "If you are that person who took someone else's luggage off the train between London and Kemble, please can you return it to the nearest station? I'd really much appreciate that."

"Who does that kind of thing? There's CCTV, so we're on the case and British Transport Police is being informed," she added.
She later returned to her Instagram story after realising her suitcase contained sentimental items, and in her next post she was choking back tears.
"I've just realised what's in my bag is a jewellery box, and in that jewellery box are some really lovely personal things," she said.
Bowman described the suitcase as dark green with brown straps and appealed for anyone who saw someone get off the GWR train at Didcot Parkway, Reading or Swindon to get in touch with her.
The presenter is best known for hosting BBC Radio 1 shows from 2003 to 2014, when she left to work on other projects.
Bowman currently hosts podcast Soundtracking, in which she interviews guests about music and film.
