Eight people are dead and 45 others are injured after a bus carrying migrant farm workers crashed on State Road 40 northwest of Orlando near Ocala, Florida.
Around 6.30am on Tuesday, the bus transporting 53 migrant workers sideswiped a pickup truck causing the bus to drive through a fence and overturned in a field off the side of the road.
Footage from the scene showed the bus lying on its side in a field off the highway, where it had rolled after colliding with the Ford Ranger truck.
Approximately 40 people were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries, some in “very serious” condition, the Florida Highway Patrol told The Independent.
It is unclear where the bus was traveling but a local station claimed it was bringing workers to their place of employment at a watermelon farm in the area.
The Florida Highway Patrol said they are investigating the incident.
