At least three people died in the train accident near Riedlingen in the southerwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg.
Some 100 passengers were on the train when at least two carriages derailed. Some 50 are injured, 25 of them seriously.
The cause of the derailment is still unclear, but the region was hit by a storm earlier in the evening.
