Trump official says the investigation is not focused on migrants because they are just pawns.
Anthony D'Esposito, the inspector general at the Department of Labor which is heading the probe into the H-1B program, said the visa program is not just fraud but a criminal enterprise with its networks extended far beyond the borders of America.
In an interview with Breitbart, D'Esposito said he won't reveal much about the ongoing investigation, but when the probe is over, Americans will be very angry, and that might lead to the biggest change from lawmakers.D'Esposito said their July announcement from JD Vance's task force to crack down on H-1B fraud was a result of many leads coming from the people reporting probable fraud. The investigators conducted multiple search warrants in multiple states and stumbled upon other crimes being committeed, recovered firearms.
"We are going to exhaust every lead to make sure that we leave no stone unturned. I think that the complexity of this investigation is probably tremendous… We’re beginning to peel the onion back, and as we peel the layers, we are going to see that this issue is something that is plaguing the United States of America," he said.
Migrants are not the bad guys, they are pawns in a dangerous chess game by big companies
D'Esposito said the investigation is focused on the labor market and not migrants because these foreigners who are coming to the US on H-1B visas and are agreeing to work at a lower salary are not the bad guys.
"They are pawns in a dangerous chess game being played by these big companies that want cheap labor. The fact is, if you’re paying someone with an H-1B visa between 25 and 30 percent less than an American worker, and you multiply that by hundreds, if not thousands, of workers, well, that’s a tremendous savings for the company," he said.
Federal government is to blame
D'Esposito said the federal government allowed this process to go on unchecked. "The fact is the real people to blame are the federal government, because the federal government allowed it to go unchecked, and the companies who are taking away jobs from the very people who they need to buy their product in order for them to stay in business… So I don’t think that the individuals in every case are really the bad guys. I think that they are being utilized as pawns in a seriously dangerous operation" he said.
