Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) praised the efforts of the Surrey RCMP and other emergency response teams, stating, "We are thankful for the hard work of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), but there is still more work to be done. IHIT investigators remain dedicated to determining why Mr. Goyal was the victim of this homicide."
The investigation suggests the shooting was targeted, though the reasons for Goyal's killing are still being examined.
