NEW DELHI: In a devastating attack on Friday,
Israeli forces
shelled
tent camps
housing
displaced Palestinians
north of
Rafah
, a city in southern Gaza, resulting in at least 25 deaths and 50 injuries, as reported by the
Gaza
health ministry and emergency workers.
The camps, located in a coastal area, have become a refuge for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fleeing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The Israeli military, while stating that the incident is under review, said, "there is no indication that a strike was carried out by the IDF" in the area.
However, they did not provide details on any other strikes or their intended targets. Israel has previously targeted locations near the "humanitarian zone" in Muwasi, a rural area along the Mediterranean coast that has seen the growth of vast tent camps in recent months.
