Israeli town renames land 'Trump One' to honour US president

The mayor of

Ma'ale Adumim

, as Israeli town in Judea, announced on Wednesday that a significant area of municipal land has been renamed "Trump One" (T1) in honour of US President Donald Trump.
"Trump’s second term is a unique opportunity to strengthen Jewish communities, especially in Judea and Samaria," said Mayor Guy Yifrach. "We trust Trump and believe that he will promote construction in the region in the coming month."
The newly renamed 4,000-acre zone, previously known as E1 or Mevaseret Adumim, lies within Ma’ale Adumim’s municipal boundaries and is part of Area C, where Israel exercises full administrative and security control.
Plans to build more than 3,000 homes in the area, aimed at addressing housing shortages, have been delayed for years due to international opposition, including resistance from the Biden administration.

Mayor Yifrach pointed out the strategic importance of the area, now called T1, and urged Israeli leaders to create territorial continuity between Ma’ale Adumim and Jerusalem.
This is not the first time Israel has honoured Trump. In 2019, after Trump recognised Israeli sovereignty over the

Golan Heights

, a new community in the region was named “Ramat Trump” in his honour.
Israeli leaders have also applauded Trump’s recent policy shifts, including executive orders reversing sanctions imposed during the Biden administration on residents of Judea and Samaria accused of violence against Palestinians.
Other moves include cutting funds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and re-imposing sanctions on officials of the International Criminal Court.
