US vice president

JD Vance

during his interview with Fox News, lauded President Trump's aggressive approach towards fulfilling his agenda and described him as “all gas and no brakes”. Speaking in the interview, Vance stressed the need to control

illegal immigration

in the country and restore control over the border.
This interview aired just after Trump announced the reopening of a large

migrant detention

centre at

Guantanamo Bay Naval Station

, capable of holding

30,000 detainees

while they await deportation.
Taking a jibe at the

Biden administration

, Vance pointed out that on January 19, which was the final day of Biden’s tenure, there were around 1,300 illegal border crossings. However, he was quick to highlight that this number had already decreased by 60 per cent under the new leadership.
“We have over 20 million illegal immigrants in the country, and we must remove them to reclaim control over our borders,” Vance said. He emphasized that Trump had campaigned on a platform of

border control

and restoring prosperity in America, and that’s exactly what his administration is aiming to do.

Despite acknowledging the ambitious nature of Trump’s immigration targets, Vance stood by the approach, asserting that it takes strong leadership to set bold goals and hold people accountable for achieving them.
“There is something very deranged in the mind of the

far-left

in this country,” Vance continued. “They seem to have more compassion for illegal aliens who shouldn’t even be here than for American citizens”, he added.

Vance also called out Selena Gomez's outcry when he received photos of children who were killed by criminal immigrants. He said, “When Selena Gomez had her viral moment, I had people sending me photos of kids the same age as my own, who were murdered by criminal aliens in America. As an American leader, and simply as an American citizen, your compassion should always be first for your fellow citizens. That doesn’t mean you hate those from outside your borders.”
"Your compassion should first and foremost be with your fellow citizens," Vance asserted. "That doesn't mean you hate people from outside our borders, but your priority should be the safety and well-being of Americans", Vance added.
