Donald Trump's running mate

JD Vance

denounced childless cat ladies earlier but he maintained that he had nothing against cats. As Ohio senator, he spoke up for pet cats on Monday on his X handle -- based on reports that

Haitian immigrants

were killed and eating pet cats and ducks of other residents. But turned out that it was a 'conspiracy theory' with no report of any pets being stolen in Ohio's Springfield.
Reacting to reports that pets were being stolen in Springfield, JD Vance posted, "Months ago, I raised the issue of Haitian illegal immigrants draining social services and generally causing chaos all over Springfield, Ohio.

Reports now show that people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who shouldn't be in this country. Where is our border czar?"

As the claim went viral with Republican leaders condemning Biden-Harris administration for allowing 'illegal immigrants', the Springfield Police said there was no report of pets being stolen and eaten. Police said they were aware of the post but this was not something on their radar now.

'Conspiracy theories' over Haitian immigrants

In context of the Haitian immigrants allegedly eating cats and ducks, a video of an Ohio woman telling how unsafe her neighborhood has become was also shared. The video was from Springfield City Commission meeting and the woman said Haitians were trying to camp out on her front yard. Another woman present at the meeting on August 27 spoke about the difficulties the people were facing because of the immigrants.
But nowhere it was mentioned that their pets were stolen. One resident at the meeting said Haitian are in the park "grabbing ducks, cutting the heads off, eating them".
Another video that went viral in the same context claimed that Haitian immigrants are not sacrificing animal to just eat them. They are doing it for black magic, it said.
