Breaking news

Jon Dahl Tomasson has left his position as head coach of Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent, after a run of eight Championship games without a win.

BBC Radio Lancashire understands former Birmingham boss John Eustace has been lined up to succeed the former Denmark international in the post.

Tomasson's assistant coach Remy Reijnierse has also departed.

Rovers' 2-1 loss at home to struggling Queens Park Rangers on Saturday left them five points above the drop zone.

The Dane, 47, had been in charge at Ewood Park since June 2022 but said following Saturday's defeat that the club was in "a very serious situation" when asked whether they were in crisis.

Tomasson did not complete his pre-match media commitments before that game, which was said to be a club decision.

On Thursday it was confirmed that Rovers had failed to sign Orlando City striker Duncan McGuire on loan as the relevant paperwork was not submitted in time - with a similar thing having happened when the club tried to sign Lewis O'Brien last year.

Rovers were seventh and two points off the top six on 29 November, but have won just once in the league since.
