A 32-year-old man has appeared in court in Belfast charged with murder.

Isaac Koko, with an address on Cromwell Road in the city, is accused of murdering Ahmed Abdi.

The 33-year-old victim was found on Wednesday, following a report of a concern for safety.

Appearing in the dock at Belfast Magistrates Court, Koko, originally from Sudan, spoke only to confirm his name and that he understood the charge.

A detective told the court that during five police interviews over two days the accused had denied all involvement, claiming he acted in self defence and said that both he and the deceased had consumed large amounts of alcohol.

There was no application for bail and the case will return to court on 10 March.
