A man who was found dead in a relative's back garden died of blunt force trauma from dog bites, an inquest has heard.

Nicholas Glass, 33, was attacked by up to four dogs before his body was discovered outside a property in Hereford Close in Rednal, Birmingham on 21 August.

Two of the dogs were confirmed to be XL Bullies and neither had a certificate of exemption, West Midlands Police said.

The inquest was opened into the death of Mr Glass at Birmingham and Solihull Coroner's Court on Monday.

It was adjourned until January 2025 so the "relevant evidence can be obtained", Coroner James Bennett said.

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my condolences to the family of Mr Glass," he added.

Mr Glass's family described Nicholas as a "kind-hearted, caring and compassionate" person.

"In Nicholas we've lost a loving son, brother and uncle who was adored by all of his family and friends.

"We are devastated at his loss and we all miss him desperately," they added.
