Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said Diane Abbott has not been barred from standing.
It comes hours after the veteran MP texted a BBC reporter to say she had been banned from standing for Labour.
Ms Abbott was suspended last year for saying Jewish, Irish and Traveller people do not face racism "all their lives". She later apologised and withdrew her remarks.
