President Joe Biden was seen smiling and avoiding reporters' questions for a full minute during a rare public appearance at a
White House event
on Tuesday, following his transfer of the
Democratic Party nomination
to
vice president Kamala Harris
.
At the event, Biden discussed his "
Investing in America
" agenda and highlighted his achievements. He stated that Covid no longer controlled their lives and that they had transitioned from an
economic crisis
to having the strongest economy in the world.
“COVID no longer controls our lives. We’ve moved from an economic crisis to having the strongest economy in the world. We’ve seen a record 16 million new jobs, unprecedented small business growth, a booming stock market, record-high 401(k)s, rising wages, falling inflation, and the smallest racial wealth gap in 20 years,” Biden said.
As the event concluded, the US president wrapped up his remarks with, "May God protect our troops." Reporters spent a minute shouting questions at him, inquiring about various key issues such as a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict, free IVF treatment, and high grocery prices. Despite their persistent questions, Biden smiled, calmly gathered his belongings, and exited the room with his staff, responding only with a polite, "Thank you, press."
The Trump War Room account shared a video of the US president from the event on X and criticized his actions, stating, "Crooked Joe Biden — completely cooked — spends a full minute ignoring questions as his handlers desperately attempt to remove them from the room. Warning: This is painful to watch."
One user on X commented on the video, "It’s so awkward watching him pretend he can’t hear the questions."
Another user noted, "He smiles like Harris cackles." A third user accused the president of being insincere, commenting, "He’s faking. He’s not going to get caught doing an interview."
