Panama Canal to reduce shipping as ‘extreme’ El Nino approaches

Panama Canal will cut daily transits from 40 to 34, then 32, from September 4 to September 15 as it prepares for lower water levels ahead of a longer, stronger-than-usual El Nino season. Slower shipping could raise costs for canal-reliant industries.
