Emergency services were called to a large fire in Cumbernauld

Fire crews are working to put out a huge fire that has broken out at an industrial estate in North Lanarkshire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said six people had been passed into the care of ambulance crews, but the extent of their injuries was not initially known.

Six fire engines were sent to Blairlinn Industrial Estate in Cumbernauld at 14:35 where a single-storey building was found to be "well alight".

Some surrounding buildings have been evacuated as a precaution.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it sent six ambulances, three special operations response teams, a paramedic response unit, a trauma team and a resuscitation rapid response unit to the scene.

Police said people in the Greenfaulds area of the town should stay indoors and keep their windows closed.
