QTCinderella is clearing up an old controversy after being called “problematic” over her alleged association with people who hold homophobic views. The discussion came back on X after users revisited comments she made around a year ago.
What started as a question from one user soon turned into a bigger conversation about what the streamer actually meant by staying connected with people whose views she disagrees with. The criticism focused on an earlier explanation that QTCinderella believed remaining friends with people who hold homophobic views could give her a chance to influence them. That position was questioned again when X users debated whether being around such people could itself be seen as supporting them.
QTCinderella eventually decided to respond herself, saying her approach is based on kindness rather than simply cutting people off.
QTCinderella explains why she chooses kindness over cutting people off
Her explanation was pretty direct. She said she uses “kindness as a social lubricant to advocate for change” and does not simply sit around when someone close to her has different opinions. She also connected that belief to Martin Luther King Jr., quoting his message that “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”
For QTCinderella, the idea is that personal relationships and kindness can sometimes help people reconsider what they believe. She also made clear that she understands other people may handle these situations differently. Her point was that this is simply the way she has chosen to live and approach those disagreements.
QTCinderella admits her earlier wording caused confusion
The streamer then addressed the part that appears to have kept the debate going. She said she is “not friends with any bigots” and explained that she had not expressed herself properly when discussing the issue a year earlier.According to her, that poor wording became a problem because her comments were later “twisted and taken out of context.” She accepted some responsibility for that, saying it was her fault for not being more eloquent. That clarification also gave more context to why she was frustrated by being repeatedly described online as something she says she is not.
Why QTCinderella posted the explanation on her main account
QTCinderella initially did not plan to make the clarification a major public post.
But after continuing to see confusion around her views, she decided to share a longer explanation on her main X account. She said she appreciated people who had provided context for her over the previous year, but was tired of being called things she believes do not describe her. Her final message was simple: she hoped the longer explanation would clear up the confusion surrounding her position.
