Tens of thousands marched through central Rome on Saturday, demanding an end to Israel’s military offensive in Gaza and urgent action to allow humanitarian aid in.
Chanting “Free free Palestine”, protesters gathered in Piazza San Giovanni, waving Palestinian flags and carrying mock shrouded bodies to symbolise children killed in the conflict.
Demonstrators condemned the Italian government’s silence, urging it to break ties with Israeli military policy.
One protester warned of mass starvation in Gaza, while another criticised Italy’s “inexcusable inaction”.
The demonstration was organised by the main Italian centre-left opposition parties, 'Democratic Party', '5 Star Movement', 'Green Europe' and 'Green and Left Alliance'.
