Fresh claims have emerged in the upcoming book from Diana's brother, Earl Spencer, as he described the then-Prince Charles "giddily elated" in a phone call after the death of the Princess of Wales.
In an extract published on Thursday in the Daily Mail, Spencer claimed Charles sounded like a "lottery winner" during the call.
"I suspect the Prince's first reaction must have been to think more of how this event might free him to marry the woman he loved, rather than appreciating the loss of one he did not," he wrote.
This comes after Earl Spencer claimed the then-Prince Charles said, referring to Diana, "we'll forget her soon enough" days after she died.
To this statement, Buckingham Palace put out a strong rebuttal saying: "His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."
