Russian security services on Sunday said that a counter-terrorism operation was underway in the in Southern Russian city of Derbent, Dagestan, after unknown assailants launched attacks on a local synagogue and an Orthodox Church, killing a priest and as many as six police officers.
Another church was reportedly targeted in the regional capital of Makhachkala.
