Russian strikes on Kyiv kills 3 as Ukraine targets oil, military sites

Russian strikes killed three people in Kyiv, including one person in an attack on a building housing the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, while Ukraine targeted Russian oil, military and railway infrastructure in overnight attacks that continued until Monday morning.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X that Ukraine struck two defence plants in Russia’s Tula and Voronezh regions, as well as oil facilities in the Krasnodar region.

The attacks also targeted drone facilities in Kaluga and Oryol, which Zelenskyy said were used for "drone terror against Ukraine". A target in the Black Sea was also hit, he added.Ukraine also attacked railway infrastructure in Russia’s border region of Bryansk on Monday.

Three separate strikes damaged a railway bridge and derailed nearly 30 carriages and wagons, the region’s acting governor said."We are consistently using our long-range capabilities to respond to Russian strikes", Zelenskyy said on X, adding that Moscow must stop escalating the conflict.

Russian strikes hit multiple Ukrainian regions

Meanwhile, Russian attacks targeted several Ukrainian regions overnight and continued until Monday morning.Among the three people killed in Kyiv was an Azerbaijani national, Zelenskyy said.

The strikes hit communications infrastructure, gas stations and residential buildings, including a building housing the Academy of Sciences.In Kharkiv, 28 people were injured, including nine children.Residential buildings were also hit in the Sumy, Rivne, Kharkiv and Odesa regions, while critical infrastructure was targeted in Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia, according to Zelenskyy.On Sunday, Russian forces struck the Kyivstar headquarters in Kyiv. Ukraine’s largest mobile service provider confirmed the attack and said there were no casualties.
