Meghan McCain
, daughter of the late senator
John McCain
, has once again refused to support either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election, saying that she is "still a principled conservative." This comes after Harris' running mate,
Tim Walz
, posted a picture with Meghan's brother, who is endorsing Harris, and captioned it with, "They are showing America what it means to put country first."
In a photo posted on the social media platform X,
Republican
vice presidential candidate Tim Walz posed with
Jim McCain
and senator Ruben Gallego, stating, "So proud to be with Senator John McCain’s son, Jim McCain, and @RubenGallego.They are showing America what it means to put country first."
Responding to Walz, Meghan McCain clarified that there is no family drama, despite her brother supporting
Democratic
presidential candidate Harris while she does not.
She also revealed that she is not endorsing either Harris or Trump, as she remains a principled conservative like her father.
"For all of you tweeting at me—yes, I’m still here, the last Republican in the family. It feels strange, but everything is okay. There’s no family drama. I won’t endorse Harris (or Trump) because I am still a principled conservative, like my Dad was his entire life," Meghan wrote on X, quoting Walz's tweet.
Last month, Meghan McCain announced she would not support either vice president Kamala Harris or Republican presidential candidate Donald
Trump
in the upcoming November election. Her statement came after her brother, Jimmy McCain, expressed his support for Harris. Jimmy McCain, 36, has 17 years of military service and works as an intelligence officer.
The late senator John McCain, father of Meghan and Jimmy, passed away in 2018. He was a prisoner of war in Vietnam for over five years. In 2015, Trump faced criticism for his remark, "John McCain was not a war hero because he was captured."
