Super Bowl reporter found dead in New Orleans hotel; woman with history of drugging men arrested in chilling twist

Louisiana woman with a history of drugging men and stealing their credit cards was arrested in connection to the death of a Kansas City Telemundo reporter.

Danette Colbert, a 48-year-old woman, was arrested in connection with the shocking death of a Kansas City Telemundo reporter at a

New Orleans hotel

where he stayed to cover the Super Bowl. The Lousiana woman has a history of drugging men and stealing their credit cards, police said adding that she was captured in the surveillance camera footage of the hotel seen leaving journalist

Adan Manzano

's hotel room. From there, she went to stores where she used the journalist's credit card while Manzano was found dead in his room.
The cause of the mysterious death is still unknown.
Manzano recently lost his wife in a car crash and now his death leaves their toddler daughter without parents. Reports confirmed that his wife Ashleigh Boyd died in Kansas last April.
The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office is now conducting toxicology testing to determine if Manzano was drugged, police said. His body showed no obvious signs of trauma.

Colbert was previously accused of using a credit card that belonged to a man who said the card and his cellphone were swiped after he met a woman drinking on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in 2016, nola.com reported.
Police said Manzano's cell phone was also found with 'career criminal' Colbert. Colbert is only charged with fraud and theft-related offenses, but police note that the investigation is still ongoing. It is not immediately clear if she has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
Manzano was a sports reporter and anchor for Telemundo KC and Tico Sports from Kansas City. “Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work,” the news station said. “We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community.”
