Two arrests after teenager stabbed in Ballynahinch

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenage boy was stabbed in Ballynahinch on Saturday night.

Police said they received a report of the incident in the Lough Park area at around 19:25 GMT.

The PSNI said it was reported that a man and woman approached a group of young people and the man stabbed the boy in the abdomen and assaulted him.

A teenage girl was also punched in the face during the incident.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspects, who are both aged 20, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The man was further arrested on suspicion of common assault.

They remain in police custody at this time.
