Nigel Farage has had a drink thrown over him as he left a pub while he was launching his personal election campaign in Clacton.
The liquid landed on his suit jacket as he walked to the Reform UK party bus.
The woman who appeared to throw the drink was heckled by other Reform UK supporters who had gathered outside.
Essex Police said a 25-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of assault.
While making the arrest, the force said a man was also detained on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
"Both individuals remain in custody for questioning," a police spokesperson said.
A similar incident happened in 2019, as a man threw a milkshake over Mr Farage during a campaign walkabout.
The other candidates announced as standing in Clacton so far are: Matthew Bensilum, Liberal Democrats; Natasha Osben, Green Party; Jovan Owusu-Nepaul, Labour Party; Giles Watling, Conservative Party.
