Campaigners have claimed people are leaving Caithness in the far north of Scotland because of the condition of the roads.

Potholes in towns and villages in the county are said to be damaging cars on a regular basis, with people leaving jobs in the care sector due to the cost of repairs.

Highland Council told the BBC a £60m capital investment into Highland roads and infrastructure was approved by its members earlier this year.

“The investment plans reflect a commitment to supporting sustainable and resilient communities," the council added.
