A woman has been stabbed to death in north-west London.
Emergency services were called to Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware, shortly after 11:50 BST.
The woman was treated for her injuries but died at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said.
The force, which has launched a murder inquiry, said it was trying to identify and inform the victim's next of kin. No arrests have been made.
Supt Tony Bellis said: "I understand the shock and concern this very sad incident will cause.
"It will be investigated by a specialist team of experienced homicide detectives, and we will support them in their work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible."
London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance also attended the scene of the stabbing, close to the junction with Oakleigh Avenue.
Pictures from the scene showed at least six emergency service vehicles inside a police cordon on Burnt Oak Broadway.
Supt Bellis said there would be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
