Parents disrupt New York school board meeting over LGBTQIA+ book for kids

A New York school's board meeting turned into chaos when furious elementary class students' parents asked them about an "LGBTQIA+" book containing illustrations of nude figures and bondage themes.
Parents on Tuesday assembled in a Monroe County auditorium to challenge the superintendent and

regarding their children's access to "The Rainbow Parade: A Celebration of LGBTQIA+ Identities and Allies."

The book talks about a young girl attending an LGBT parade with her two mothers and explores a child's journey of "gender identity". According to its description, the book aims to "break down stereotypes and embrace diversity."

"The Rainbow Parade" contains illustrations showing a nude figure from behind, furries, and individuals in leather BDSM attire.
The book was shown to pupils from first through fifth grade, aged approximately 5 to 11 years, New York Post reported.
The parents confronted Superintendent Tasha Potter with their grievances.

"You can see the guy's butt is clearly out," Feathers noted, pointing to an illustration. "And then if you go over on this side of the picture, there's two guys standing in bondage right there."
When Potter attempted to direct parents towards proper procedures for material objections, she faced overwhelming disapproval.
"We are here at our board meeting, conducting our business," Potter stated to the parents, prompting louder protests. "It's our board meeting," declared a parent who was recording the proceedings.
"We pay you!" another parent exclaimed.
Amidst continued protests, officials ended the meeting without hearing public comments.
"They're just leaving?" remarked the parent recording the event.
The meeting's footage gained widespread attention online, drawing comment from Department of Government Efficiency chief Elon Musk. Musk responded to a Libs of TikTok video post with simply, "A kindergartner..."
