Zelenskyy arrives in Berlin for event on rebuilding Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy  has arrived in Berlin to meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and attend a donor conference to rebuild the war-torn country.

"Chancellor Scholz and I will discuss further defence assistance, the expansion of Ukraine's air defence system, and joint arms production," Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The event for Ukraine, called Ukraine Recovery Conference, will be attended by a host of people, including at least 10 prime ministers. More than 2,000 people from 60 countries, from many sectors including the private sector, are slated to attend the conference.

"In the face of Russia's air terror, urgent solutions for Ukraine's energy sector will be our top priority," Zelenskyy said.

Russian attacks have crippled Ukrainian electricity infrastructure, with Kyiv implementing several measures in recent days to limit electricity consumption in the country.

Zelenskyy added that he will also meet "President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bundestag President Barbel Bas, as well as visit a military base where our servicemen are training."
