Indian-origin man charged in Canada after stabbing driver during carjacking attempt, home invasion

A 27-year-old Indian-origin man has been charged in Canada after a series of attempted carjackings in Brampton that included a stabbing and a break-in at a nearby home.Lovepreet Mann, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with three counts of robbery, aggravated assault, dangerous weapons and uttering threats.According to Peel Regional Police, the incidents unfolded on Sunday, September 6, at around 10 pm near Clockwork Drive and Creditview Road. A man allegedly approached a vehicle while its owner was still inside and tried to steal it.The victim was stabbed during the confrontation before the suspect fled on foot. He was taken to a local trauma centre with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.Police said the suspect then went to a nearby house and kicked in the front door before demanding the keys to a vehicle.

He failed to get them and left the property.Two more vehicles were subsequently targeted in separate attempted carjackings in the area, but neither attempt was successful. No one was injured in those incidents.Detectives with the Central Robbery Bureau identified a suspect the following day and carried out a search warrant at a Brampton address.Mann was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.The case remains before the court, and the allegations against Mann have not been proven.
