A woman has appeared in court accused of murdering a six-year-old boy.
Karolina Zurawska, 41, is accused of killing Alexander Zurawski, and the attempted murder of a 67-year-old man earlier on the same day.
Ms Zurawska was arrested on Thursday after officers were called to Cwm Du Close in Gendros, Swansea. Police said she and the little boy lived in the same home.
She appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court on Monday where during a short hearing she did not enter a plea, and spoke only to confirm her name, address and date of birth.
Ms Zurawska was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday.
South Wales Police said it was not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, and previously said Ms Zurawska and Alexander lived together.
Ch Supt Chris Truscott, divisional commander for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, said it was "a distressing incident" which had been "a tremendous shock to the local community".
Paying tribute to Alexander, his family said he was a "very kind child" who was always well behaved and "never naughty".
They added he was "very clever and mature for his age", with a "great understanding of facts" and spoke both English and Polish.
